That way of mounting the ride tom is the solution to being a lefty and making no new holes in the b.d.; with the added advantage of bringing the tom closer to the center axis of the b.d. Ron
it's a fine idea. when i was in high school i had a three piece punk band and our drummer was a lefty (i was the guitar player / singer).
i remember that it was always kind of weird seeing his kit because it was, well, backwards. to me anyways. when i would sit behind it to mess around i wouldn't know where to start.
every time we were go to the music store he would go and try out the kits (which were all setup righty) and i'd see him sitting with his left foot on the BD pedal and his arms all twisted to compensate for how he's used to playing.
it's tough with guitars too. the lefty selection is very limited.
i feel bad for you leftys sometimes. but you're always awesome players!
