For sale is my very rare and sought after 3pc 6 ply set of Gretsch vintage early 60s drums.
CHANCE OF A LIFETIME.
These are a very rare orig. Aqua Satin Flame wrap. No ply separation, no bearing edge damage, no extra holes. I bought these drums new in 1962 or 1963 and I am the only owner. They are the Round Badge series with famous Jasper shells, Gretsch Silver Coating on the inside of all drums, That Great Gretsch Sound. Some scuffs, scratches on the shells surface. Bass drum is 20x14, tenor is 12x8, and floor tom is 16x16. Both toms have orig. 2 mufflers & bass has 1 tone control. All hardware is orig. and nothing is missing. I replaced the front bass head in May 2008 because the name of the orig. band was on the old one. Hard shell cases are included. One of the leather straps on the bass case is broken at the buckle area. Cases are about a 6 out of 10.
I recently spent 8 full days stripping, cleaning and polishing all the rims, lugs, etc. There is a stain on the floor tom that I couldn't remove (see pics) if you put it beside your Rt. Leg no one will see it. I cleaned all the shell finishes and couldn't believe how much smoke was on them, they look great now. The Consolette tom mount bracket has some rust and some chrome plating is missing at the base.
I played these drums in 42 states while on the road for 13 years. In the mid 60s I played with Ray Price and the Cherokee Cowboys (Darrell McCall fronting the band and Buddy Emmons on steel), on the road (bars and concerts) and at the Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman in Nashville TN.
