What other instruments do you play? Last viewed: 0 seconds ago

Hola Amigos,

I was just wondering how many of us play other instruments. I'm a drummer and will always be one, but I also sing, write songs, play upright bass and acoustic guitar. What about you?!?

Hi, Aaron!

I play a little guitar, bass and keyboards. When I write, I use a guitar most of the time. Drums will always be my main focus and instrument though. Interesting post!

I knew I wasn't the only multi-talented musician here, Brian! I also use guitar to write songs also...and just like you...drums will always be my main focus. Thanks for the reply.

Let's see who else is out there...

I started playing acoustic guitar in 84' because my fingers were getting a little arthritic and I wanted to exercise them. I got hooked and I've played a little guitar ever since. Mostly chords, I'm not much of a picker. I also taught myself a little bass guitar, but I can only play a few grooves on bass, not much at all really. I'm a decent rhythm guitar strummer though, but that's only because I'm already a drummer and I have a good sense of rhythm from that. Love acoustic guitar... when I pick one up, I usually play a lot of Beatles stuff just for my own entertainment.

Cool, John. I picked up acoustic guitar around 10 years ago, mostly because the band starting playing acoustic traditional Mexican tunes and I didn't want to stand there with shakers! The acoustic guitar I'm playing in the pic is called a jarana. It's used in traditional jarocho music from Veracruz. I can't play any leads to save my life...just rhythm. Funny thing is that I've had a couple of different drummers tell me I was easy to play with on upright bass...and of course that's because I'm a drummer!

Dang, that's a small guitar Aaron! Looks more like a quatro. I bought a Pawn Shop Premier acoustic made in 1966. I'll post a pic for you later. It's cool, abalone inlays, rosewood fretboard, looks a lot like a high-end Martin. It has a great tone and 'sometimes' I can actually stand my own playing because the axe sounds so good by itself. I just love music, period, punto.

I also have a custom made strat electric and a 12 string Ovation acoustic/electric that I wank on. I play them all equally badly! LOL

I started out as a singer songwriter playing/writing on guitar. I of course can play some bass and pick a little on string instruments but I primarily play rhythm and sing. Wish to get pretty solid on the drums by the time I die so I can record a song playing everything. I love vintage guitars and gear also. I'll post a pic of one of my babies later.

I play keyboards. Have been the keyboard player in a band for the last few years. I actually learned piano first, started taking lessons at age 4and then picked up the drums around age 9. A long time ago.

We have a few multi-instrumentalists in the band I am in so I get a chance to pound the drums for a few songs each show.

Don't enjoy collecting and polishing keyboards though....
