What snare drum do i have? Last viewed: 34 minutes ago

Hi guys...i thought i am good to identify few drums but here i have something which i have no idea what it is...maybe the previous owners changed the lugs i don't know but here are the facts:

1) The shell looks like Rogers Powertone from the 1960s looking at the two lines going all the way aorund the shell on to and bottom. It is COB thin shell. Throw off spacing and butt end also indicates to a brand from 1960s.

2) Lugs are again 1960s and it takes DW thread, not the usual M4 screws. If i am correct, Camco used this and Leedy. The screws are the "sonor" style which again can not be sonor as they used M5 screws and not the USA threads. Early Leedy used this type of screws but the shape of the lugs are not matching.

3) the three lines on the lugs is very similar to early Camco but its not 100% the shape.

4) hoops are again 1960s style die cast hoops.

5) No smapce for air vent which I found a bit strange and have not seen a COB snare with 6 lugs however I use to have a Rogers snare with 6 lugs.

Any info will be greatly appreciated and thank you all for your help and taking the time reading this. :)

The lugs are similar in design to the Rogers Duplex lug (one of the Joe Thompson designs). However, the lugs also resemble the drawn brass Bread and Butter lug, and I am not sure the lugs you are asking about are pressed or cast. Would be interesting.

Off hand, I would say, Not Rogers.

Thats a Lefima or Tromsa Snare from the 60s era! No US Product it´s a German Drum! Look at the Tension rods. I am quite sure the M5! Is there no strainer on it?

Thank you guys for the responses. I have been searching like crazy for info and i just can not find a Tromsa or Lefima with the same looking lugs. It has definitely M5 rods. Unfortunately no strainer..only butt end. Anywhere i could find a Tromsa catalog? :) thanks guys again...lots of love.

Ok...if the Rogers R360 takes M5 DW Style rods, i think its a bingo. The snare came with a Sonor kit and maybe one of the previous owner changed thesnare rods to Sonor style to not to worry about using two set of drum keys? Also Rogers R360s had stickers which could explain why it came off? just a thought. If i can find a Rogers R360 strainer which i could fit on the drum without drilling i will have the answer.....

however i will keep looking at the Tromsa's too....

Def. not Rogers at all. The shell has pointed out rings around it not Rogers inverted rounded groove.

I know the lineage of Rogers metal snare drums offered from 1940-1960's. This drum has nothing to do with Rogers past-sorry. Cool piece though...

They aren't Rogers lugs. But you can try a Bantam, Tower, or Swivomatic throw off.
