My last deal was had back in 1978, when I bought a then three-year-old, Gretsch four-piece (9x13, 11x14, 16x18 toms; 14x24 kick), with a POS snare and junk hardware. Total was $410.00. Hmmm, maybe that wasn't such a good deal, being 32 years ago. Anyway, I paid more than that for my same period natural jasper 6.5x14 snare, 2 years ago. All monies well spent, to me.
Just picked up a Green Satin Pearl Flame Slingerland 6 lugger to match a '66 modern solo kit I have had for some time. No fantastic deal but I'm glad to finally back the kit up with a matching snare. Currently I have a very nice COB Sound King behind it until the other drum arrives.
And... dang it, last week got ebay hosed on a Red Sparkle 50's Slingerland 13" tom for a Red Sparkle kit I have been building for a long time. I'm ok with the tom but it was drilled and patched above the diamond plate.. nicely done patch but not disclosed in the sale... I'll keep it, it will be OK.
The Gina Schock Rogers Superten 6.5x14, signed by John Cermenaro of Rogers Drums 1/26/83, at a very good price.

Rogers Dynasonic 6.5x14 XP10 Maple, price was not so great, but, consecutive serial to one I already own, this one supposedly was owned by Doug Clifford of CCR.

I finally got a deal! Picked up this little 3pc Sound Percussion kit at a local thrift store in Riverside for $25! Of course, I did get carried away with the refurb. Hey, that's what we do! As you can see, it's been wrapped in Abalone Pearl from Jammin Sam. OK, so I did get a bit carried away with the Yamaha-style tom holder, vintage 1965 Ludwig floor tom brackets and, finally, a custom made Keller shell matching snare drum. Will the madness never end!
Keep it coming!!!
My old bass player runs a bulldozer at a landfill.. so far he's pulled out: An acrolite in a case, a 36" 1957 Ludwig Bassdrum for me and for his brother in law a trap case with cymbals and a 5" Ludwig Supra and a 32" bass that he's using on his kit now!!

Free is always the best deal.
Here she is all cleaned up, playable, tuned, got an 18" hoop for the floor tom with tensioning rods on the way...
1970 Ludwig 24/18/13 rogers Cleveland era powertone. but, $80.00 initial investment, including the cymbals... plus heads, plus, plus, plus.
I'm happy!
