Iam to old school when it comes to VCR and Cassette tapes i have 1,000's of them..Many of the VCR tapes are music types and Movies..Cassette's music all types..I even have 8-track tapes many of them are ones that are so hard to fine on records..I only have about 1000 of them..Ok a few question's who recalls 4-track tapes from the 60's these were out before 8 track tapes..I only have about 200 of them. What about Reel to Reel tapes? I have about 1000 of them too..I still have all the players for all these types of tapes.Sometimes i will play a 4 or 8 track tape or Cassette's or Reel to Reel's in the studio and clean it up and put it on CD..That i play in my car...Mikey
What's going to happen to all the VHS & cassette tape collections? Last viewed: 2 hours ago
I have a Teac Reel-to-Reel....and ONE tape. lol!
My first "stereo" was an all-in-one thing with a record player on the top, an AM AND FM radio! (woohoo!) and a built-in 8-track player. I got into the bad habit of "playing" the select button on the 8-track player too much....basically me tapping the button like a drum and switching the tracks just to see what it would sound like....and I BROKE the switch! (duh!). The speakers were the kind where the wires went INTO the backs of the cabinets....lol! Nice stuff! I remember it clearly, though.

Possibly you guys can donate them to Senior Centers (don't think they'd be into the new hi tech stuff) or local prisons, JV centers, etc. After you've digitized them of course.
Years ago I got rid of my collection of over 500 8-track tapes!I bought this recently for my cassettes: http://www.ebay.com/itm/380394029697?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649It's cheap, easy to use, and works well.
There is a problem with going this way MP3 the quality of mp3 as compared to wave is horrendous better to download your tapes to digital then remaster to at least wav quality it is what i have done with all my favorite Lp's and cassettes you will need a record player, cassette player and a preamp and some rca to mini adapters the rest is a good sound program and a little patience..
All the tapes are gone, except for that "special weekend" in Las Vegas. I need to dig it out and burn it myself - literally LoLoLoLo

I remember 4track, but never bought any. It might be the only format I didn't buy into. I still got a few betamax's, along with an 8 track, reel to reel,...it's nice to be able to play most any obscure music i find. Now, can anyone tell me how to play the soviet era underground postcards?

are 4 track and quadraphonic the same thing? i had a quadrophonic player and some tapes back in the day.

I had a old Pioneer quadraphonic 8 track system and speakers that was my parents. When I started moving my drums into the living room to play they gave it to me and back in the basement I went. LOL. But very cool for the times. I bought 4 EPI micro tower speakers after the Pioneers blew out and we were really crankin then.
My wife and I still have boxes of VHS and cassettes. Lots of home movies of the kids when they were little and all my wifes big hair band tapes. Shes a bit younger than I am. ;)
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

I actually get a lot of business transfering VHS to DVD and Cassette and LP's to CD. You can buy a VHS to DVD unit for Cheap. I guess people just don't want to take the time to do it themselves or think it is hard. I have a half track and stereo reel to reel,DAT,ADAT,Cassette,8 Track, mini cassette, minidisc, turntable, available just for playback and transfers.
Keeping my lp's, cassettes and VHS tapes. My kids can throw them away.
