What's it worth? – 1967 Ludwig Mod Orange Last viewed: 58 minutes ago

Loading...

This is a follow up to a post from a few weeks back – this time I have pictures.

I'm seeking opinions on the value of a 1967, Hollywood configuration, mod orange kit that I'm looking to buy. The kit has some fading, as can be seen in Picture 1. In addition, there are blemishes in the wrap on two of the drums (Pictures 2 and 3), and the FT has a couple of cracks in the wrap that are about a 1.5 to 2 inches each (Picture 4). Also, about 1/3 of the inlay of one of the bass drum hoops is missing (not shown). On the plus side, the kit also includes a 1967 mod orange Pioneer snare (not shown) that is only slightly faded, and easily an 8.5 to 9/10.

As always, any insights will be greatly appreciated.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

The badges check out. I examined them on the outside and inside of the drums. The serial numbers cluster pretty well. Three are 4115XX and one is 4093XX. The snare has a later serial number, but is still 1967. The buyer is well known to me and highly trustworthy. There is no question of authenticity.

I think it was advertised in late '67 or '68.

Color was advertised first in Jan 1968 Ludwig drummer. The color was actually introduced around June of 1967 and lasted to about 1971-72. What are the sizes of the set you are looking at? I matching pioneer certainly makes the valued at a lot. Depending on what you can get the set for, you may even be able to sell off the snare and pay for most of the set(provided it's bought at a nice price).

Would love to see more pics if you can... Thanks!

Definitely see the purple in the first photo labeled unfaded, stand corrected- just seemed to have more intense yellows than I expected in Mod Orange. Buy it!

Sizes are 14 x 22, 8 x 12, 9 x 13, 16 x 16, plus Pioneer snare.

Anyone willing to comment on the value? Is $3000 out of line?
