when did Ludwig stop using internal tone controls? Last viewed: 17 minutes ago

Trying to nail down the year of my kit.

Big Beats, b/o badge is on the batter side of the bass drum. Large lugs on 12" tom. Should be somewhere around 79-82. But i wanna know more!

Looking at the catalogs, it's hard to see tone controls on the 79 and up drums, and I can't find a 78 catalog. But the s/n on the round corner b/o badges put them 79+. Who knows? Any of you guys?

the years you are acquiring about there were tone controls as factory Oem unless special ordered without them, this is a quote from Rob Cokks Ludwig Book, By 1998 the only Ludwig drums shipped with Internal muffles were the acrolites. even the accent snare drums had no mufflers, ludwig explanation was for leaving the mufflers on the acrolites was that the band directors expected them.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

They never did stop using them. They have to be special ordered with them if you want one now, but technically they never stopped using them.

I see...I just didn't see any on later 70s drums.

And mine were natural maple finish, so no riveted

seams.
