When is a Slingerland not a Slingerland? Last viewed: 1 day ago

Ever seen a "vintage Slingerland snare" that didn't have a single Slingerland part anywhere on it?

Those appear to be Slingy lugs....and I am pretty sure the hoops might qualify for Sling, if they are real....

Those are not Slingerland hoops...they're copies, so most likely the lugs are copies too.

Not Slingerland, but the price seems pretty reasonable...

That can't be called a Slingerland. It would be a Slingerland clone, reproduction? that seems to be a fair price in either case

Obviously the knowledgeable person interested in purchasing a vintage drum can spot something like this from a mile away. However, I find it abominable that more and more people seem to be taking generic shells, adding a few vintage parts including the logo of their choice, only to turn around and sell their Frankenstein on ebay or elsewhere labeling it a Rogers, Ludwig, or in this case a Slingerland drum . As far as I can see, this particular seller did not instal a Slingerland badge, but so many who are selling in this way have no qualms about doing just that. Even the sellers who clearly state that the drum is a "replica" have no right whatsoever to use another companies logo on their drum. I guess there is not much one can do about it but it must be detrimental in some way to the vintage drum market.
