We all have a story. That instant where the vintage drum bug bit you right in the keester. Anyone care to share their story?
Here's mine - My first kit was an old Stewart in BDP (still have it). I found it at the curb in the neighbor's trash with some hardware and a pair of hats. I hauled it all in, cleaned off the grime and started playing it... hmmm... I liked drums. Fast forward about 14 years or so (which also included a period of absence from music). I decided to get back into drumming, so I bought a Ludwig Accent Elite kit and loved it! About a year later, I was away for work and stumbled upon an ad on the local CL for a 1970 Ludwig kit in bowling ball oyster blue and went to have a look because I had heard of that wrap, but never seen one in person (figuring it would just be for Sh**s and giggles). I knew almost nothing about vintage drums at the time besides the fact that they were old. I walked into the guy's place, laid eyes on the kit and BLAMMO! "Something bit me!" (Forrest Gump)
I still have the kit and I love it!
