She quit the business some years ago. BTW, that really nice gear wasn't hers. She was selling it for the estate of Joe Winokur, the late owner of Joe's Drum Shop in Beverly, Massachusetts. Almost all of that gear was his private collection that he amassed over the years. BTW, Joe was officially a Rogers guy at heart, but he didn't discriminate in his collection. The family has some of that collection left, but not much. I believe a few pieces of that inventory are still on consignment with the Drum Shop North Shore, the shop that Nate opened in Joe's old location.
She purchased my green vistalites many moons ago.
Cherie was selling long before Joe passed away, and it seemed to me she had gone out of business before Joe had run into health troubles. I had bought from, sold to and traded with Joe on many occasions. He had had a lot of drums.
I heard she got into local politics - City Council, Country Commissioner, that kind of thing. Some of her drums toward the end got REALLY fishy, and the language in the descriptions so finely parsed that the authenticity of everything was shaky.
Like a green Vista bop kit with matching snare, and wording in the ad like "The Ludwig hardware on these drums looks as nice as it did the day it left the factory, and even the lug screws and gaskets are 100% Ludwig. These acrylic shells have fantastic attack and projection!" Like, stuff that would have been impossibly rare, in unbelievably nice condition, but the description coyly never outright says "This is a legit, real, vintage example of XXXXXX, and holy crap, you're never going to see another one"

This was after the Winokur family took all of whatever was left back from her as the collection just wasn't selling to their liking. As you stated, something "fishy" was happening and they didn't care for it, so they got what they could back. I wouldn't be surprised if some of Joe's collection got canibalized for some of her own "projects".....I think there was a bit of "where's the money Cherie?" going on there, but I can't say for sure as the family never said what was really going on in the end.
It's tough being a friend of the Winokur family and trying to stay neutral on the subject, but I believe that this is what had happened, at least in the case of Joe's collection.
