Which Year USA Custom Snare? Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Looking at two different USA Custom wood snares. One is an '08 eight lug and the other is an early 70s ten lug. Both long distance, so not available for me to play. One more preferable than the other? How much risk that the '70s model might be "boxy" sounding or was that primarily an issue with only the RB models?

USA Custom? Are you referring to Gretsch? Some extra info and pictures would help us figure this out.
