Who's that drummer and what's he playing? Last viewed: 4 hours ago

Anyone know who that drummer is that played with Robert Plant and Alison Krauss on the Sand album, looks like a very vintage or even antique kit and a really cool vintagey if not eclectic sound.

Just found that on google but still can't find out about that set up. It sounds really cool and looks like something thrown together. I'd love to get more detail on the particular drums and sizes.

He always sounds great. I see him playing Rolling Bombers a lot recently, but these aren't them.

Don't know what these are. Hard to tell. You might find better photos from a different show.

This clip gives you a better view and even a short solo @ 1m:50sec.

My guess,... around 1940 Slingerland Radio Kings in gold sparkle.

On the Letterman Show clip, Jay, when asked, said they were 1943 Slingerland.

You should find a link by a search on the site to that clip..

Cheers

Got it and they look like the drums with the wooden lugs, do you think so?

Wow..that's T-Bone Burnett on guitar to boot!

I never would have guessed I'd someday be watching the guy from "The New Yardbirds" covering The Everly Brothers.

The same kit in both vids. They must be 1943 Rolling Bombers.

The drummer is the sane guy that played for the Levon Helm tribute at this years Grammy awards but was one of only three musicians on stage who's name was not displayed on TV. I tried to find his name again but non of the websites I checked out listed his name either. That's a bit uncool, especially since it was a tribute to a drummer.

The kit in both videos is a Slinger land Rolling Bomber kit.
