Why burgundy sparkle? Last viewed: 5 hours ago

I think Burgundy sparkle is a very elegant, classy finish, and you can associate that finish with a fine Merlot, instead of the candy apple red that Taiwanese starter sets were wrapped in, which look more like 80's nail polish..The rarity and scarcity of burgundy sparkle is why they're so sought after. I personally wouldn't mind owning one, only it would have to be a Ludwig ;)

Burgundy is not objectively a hot color, it's pretty cool and muted. The only drum colors that would be more so would be black and brown. Everything is else is hotter and brighter from the stage: blue, gold, silver, yellow, green, red and orange obviously, sparkle or not. Even natural maple is much brighter.

That Camco kit does look amazing, but I think to me it's because Camco hardware from that era looks amazing, and the logo BD head completes it so well. How much louder would that kit look onstage if it were green or tangerine sparkle?

Tangerine sparkle turns brown under lights. And yes I know from experience!

Niiice kit!

But if tangerine turns brown under lights, what color does burgundy turn?

LOL, they actually look quite similar under lights. The gold flecks in burgundy sparkle do set it apart though. Tangerine glass glitter looks great under low lit white lights. It really makes the glass glitter pop. But how often is that an option on stage?

Silver, green, red and blue look best under lights.

Why Burgundy Sparkle? Why not? I do agree with your dislike for the glut of cheapo Wine Red drum sets. I'll expand upon that dislike to add the solid color wraps of the 70's and 80's that made top line drums look as cheesy to me as the beginner drums--especially with plumbing pipe tom hardware. And, I was a Rogers rep during the last five years of CBS ownership. I loved the drums, but hated the looks of the hardware and most of the finishes.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Burgundy is OK in my book, but I prefer Merlot. Actually, I like Malbec better than either of those, but haven't seen it offered in drum finish yet. But alas, I really into onyx so no more Merlot in the corral.
