At least here in the U.S. I ran across the attached snare this weekend. Gathering dust on the 2nd floor of an antique shop with a tag that said "Old Remo Drum- $125". To me it's a hunk of unidentifiable metal, no badge. Just the beginnings of rust. Probably not worth more that $5. Typical of many antique shops - overpriced junk. Anyway....out of curiousity, can someone can ID this hunk of scrap? Thanks :)
Why I'll Never Find Good Drums in an Antique Store Last viewed: 1 hour ago
Looks like Ludwig to me.
Looks just like a Slingerland I had.
Slingerland name was stamped on the throw off.
Ludwig also looked like that.
“I did not trip and fall. I attacked the floor and I believe I am winning.”
Going by the throw..Leedy....
Agreed. I used to own a 30's Leedy Reliance model with that exact same throw. That shell is most likely NOB. It'd be worth the $125 to me (or however much I could haggle that price down) and the cleanup job to have a kickass vintage snare like that.
Here is the one I owned...

Yes, with eight tube lugs and a COB shell, it is worth it.

You just might have passed on a real gem. Maybe not worth a ton of money, but could have been the best sounding drum you ever owned.
Wow, just shows my ignorance of any drum older than a couple of decades. Should there be some identification on this (badge)? How would one clean it up? No snare wires in this either. Maybe I could get it for $75...seems like the owner is clueless as I was. Well at least I knew it wasn't a Remo drum. Anyway, thanks for the insights.... :)
Look for an engraved name on one of the hoops !!
