Why is it called a "Buck Rogers" snare stand? Last viewed: 19 hours ago

I first saw one in a Rogers Catalog around 1967 or 68, but I've never known why they were called Buck Rogers. Back then I guessed it was because someone thought that they were futuristic looking or something.

I've searched a bit but didn't spot anything about it. Found some great history and pictures though.

Who knows the low down on the name?

Thanks!

I read somwhere that it was called that due to its resemblance to a Buck Rogers ray gun when the stand was folded up.

+1 to that answer. Same thing I heard, too.

Plus, referring to something as "Buck Rogers" denoted advanced, even futuristic design. I had a Buck Rogers snare stand for a while.......I found it to be a bit antiquated.;)
