How much wood could a Speed King chuck if a Speed King could chuck wood ??

My friend bought a vintage SK and it had one owner, was never maintained, or cleaned. Well I helped him open her up !! I was gonna show him the ropes. Well when I pulled the screws off the posts on the bottom to slide out the spring, there was a bunch of wood chips cut into cubes, really small, and about a palmful.

The grease was pretty much hard and the woodchips were imbedded into the grease too.

Does anyone know if this is original to Speed Kings ? I`ve never seen it. It was suggested that it`s there to stir up the grease while playing. I don`t know,...Anyone ??

No,but I have heard of people putting woodchips,sawdust in noisy rear ends.Back when cars had them and u-joints!!.Not that kinda rear end!!!!!!
