I did not come up with the informations but I rather collected them from various places on the Net and organized them in a spread sheet ( including some informations from this forum).

Custom order are just what the word say " Custom" meaning one of a kind. If the informations on the sheet are wrong then the informations on the net is wrong.

I did not make any statement just collected the information and put them in a easy format. Again it is a general overview; if things do not match it requires more investigation.

I like the idea of gathering information from several places and presenting it for quick reference. However, I suggest three things:

1. Much of the information on the internet is actually wrong, or at least incomplete and not fully refined. Further, some is also not presented clearly, leading to much confusion.

2. It is inaccurate to present information about changing physical characteristics or hardware as happening at a particular moment in time when the change from one characteristic is not abrupt or absolute. Date stamps and serial numbers correlate with each other and with other physical characteristics, but the relationship is not precise - some overlap occurs.

3. "Custom" is often used to describe a characteristic which is not as expected because:

A The drum is typical and original, but the person evaluating the drum does not fully understand what characteristics to expect.

B. The drum is not typical but is original, but the person evaluating the drum doesn't have another explanation for it.

C. The drum is not original, but the person evaluating the drum is not aware that the drum has been altered.

Collecting information about the following for ongoing research projects:
Gretsch drums with serial numbers,
Ludwig Keystone and B/O badge drums with serial numbers and date stamps,
Ludwig Standards from 1968-73, and
Ludwigs with paper labels from 1971-72
