WTB: Green Ludwig Vistalite Snare Drum Last viewed: 37 minutes ago

Loading...

Hello all..

I purchased a pristine set of green Vistalites about a year and a half ago but it didn't come with a snare. I am ready to put this set together and I need a snare drum.

Let me know if you or someone you know has one that you would like to sell!

Thanks!

Michael

They just re-issued the green Vistalites, might be able to get a new one for cheaper, seeing as the green are some of the rarest of the older ones.

Thanks for the heads up! I own a band instrument repair company so I called Randy Wagers at Ludwig today and while ordering some restoration parts for an old Ludwig concert bass drum I asked about the green snares being reissued. Unfortunately they are not yet available..

He said that they would be most likely later in the year but looking around at the prices of the new snares on some of the discounter websites I think that I can get a vintage original green snare for about the same price as a reissue.

Of course, the challenge is that I have to find one!

There were two or three that went on Ebay last year and I didn't get any of them - just assumed that there would be some around when I was ready. Now that I am ready I haven't seen one in months!!

Thanks again for the advice.. Hopefully one will turn up soon..

I'm in the other boat. I've got my green snare sitting around here hoping that my stolen green kit might one day show up again.

Yikes! I'm really sorry to hear that! There aren't too many of them around - you never know, it might just turn up again..

Not trying to be insensitive - but you wouldn't want to sell the snare would you?

I've thought about it. I'm still kind of on the fence. But I'm leaning pretty far over to the no side.

I totally understand - I would feel the same way if I were in your position. If you ever change your mind, let me know! It doesn't look like I'll be finding one anytime soon hahaha.

Back in the early-mid 90s I had a green Vistalite 6.5 x 14 Supersensitive that I couldn't give away. I eventually traded it for a late 50s 6.5 x 14 BDP Radio King. Around 2002-03 I saw it sell on ebay for $2,000. They're out there, but it'd probably be a lot cheaper to buy a re-issue.
