Hi Folks!

I am in need of a working Slingerland 3 point strainer & 6 hole extension guide c/w adjusting wheels for my 1937 - 39 cloud badge 14x5 Radio King snare.

I am located in the UK.

Many thanks

Steve,

wouldn't the extension brackets you need have 2 holes per side to mount to the shell? The later had 3 holes per side...your drum is early...

BTW..I do have the cover plates that the thumb wheels go thru...but no wheels!

Hi Blair

Thanks for your reply - much appreciated.

Well the shell has 6 holes - the guide on the butt side is present & it is also a 6 hole? .

The badge seems to date it as 37-39 (according to the guide on this site) & also if you look at the feature & dating guide on the 3 point strainer , this also shows a 6 hole guide?

I am now totally confused ( this is not difficult for me - believe me! :-) )

I guess I need to go with the holes on the shell & match the part to those - the holes look original?

I cant post pics of the shell yet, as it is currently on its way back from Eddie Ryan who has just re-laquered it & repaired the re-rings which had started to come away from the shell when it came into my hands.

I will try & post a pic or two when I have it back perhaps?

Many thanks

Kindest regards

Steve :-)

The strainer side and butt both should have extenders...

They either mount to the shell with 3 holes left / 3 holes right on EACH piece..

OR..2 holes left / 2 right (earlier ones)

Hi Blair

Mine definitely has the three holes per side version ( 6 holes total).

I took another look at the article on the Vintage Drumguide & it does mention a change to a 3 hole per side guide in 1937 which would tie in with mine (its under the topic 3 point strainers). See link below - the one shown in the picture is the one missing from mine.

OK...just a little earlier, they would have had 2 per side..good way to date the drums...

I have 2 of the little plates that says Slingerland (upside down) under the strainer, that the strings curve over. The 2 thumb wheels go inside that...

Hi Blair,

I dont have any throne stuff, however In do have the bottom section of a Lokfast Hihat stand & the pull rod but is missing the top section with very good chrome & also a snare stand base & basket section which is just missing the locking section that clamps the basket section to the base section.

I can dig them out & take some pics if you wish?

Best wishes

Steve
