Hi!

Congrats, a very fine snare!

This might be a tough project, as it seems that the shell is covered with a thin clear lacquer coat, which you´d have to remove first before you can clean the brass.

My Yamaha brass piccolo snare also has some spots, but I decided to leave it as is, because it doesn´t seem to affect the sound of the drum. The model I have is the one that Dave Weckl used while he played with the Chick Corea Elektric/Acoustic Band - it has mighty hoops (triple flange) and different lugs. How does yours sound with the cast hoops?

Nice sounding for the most part.

Still tweaking heads ,snares etc to get a feel for the product.

I saw this on CL the other day for $200 bucks and decided what the hell.

Seamless brass shell and aluminum die cast rims are a steal at that price.

Very good condition overall aside from some of the blemishes to the finish.

That was a nice price indeed! Great find, hope you enjoy it!

What surprised me with mine was how full this only 4" (or 3,5"?) deep shell sounds, what a nice tone it produces tuned to medium tension - and the snares´ response characteristic. In fact it sounds "bigger" as it is.

Does yours also have the extended snare wires, with the "pseudo-parallel" strainer system?

pseudo-parallel.

Would have liked the extended snares like on the older models ,but you take what you can get at times..

Yammie and Pearl no longer use any extended snares except in their marching snares.

I can't think of anybody except Ludwig doing it anymore.

I own a number of the parallel throwoffs as they are on my favorite snares (Fibes ,older Pearl free floaters).

Great sounding snares ,but folks cheapening out in the name of progress.
