Yamaha Club Customs 2011 in Black Swirl Last viewed: 1 hour ago

SOLD

I have a set of 2011 Yamaha Club Custom drums in 22X15, 16X15, 12X8, and 14X5.5. I have only owned these for a few weeks, but I decided to go for a vintage kit instead. The drums sound fantastic and are very well made.

The set has been gigged, so there are the usual small scuffs and such on the drums, but overall they are in good shape and, of course, there are no significant issues with any of the drums or hardware. They definitely have a vintage vibe and sound to them.

The kit comes with the tom holder (post) that is pictured with the snare. There are newish heads on all of the drums.

Cool looking kit! I love that paint finish! What type wood are the shells made of? Did you order it with the bass drum mount then decide not to use it? The BD hoops don't match the finish on the drums?

The shells are made of kapur wood, which is very mahogany sounding, but with a bit of maple thrown in. I'm not sure if other manufacturers beside Yamaha use it, but it is awesome sounding.

The finish is all hand painted - they drag a rope with paint on it around the drum to get the swirls!

I am the second owner, and the first owner wanted the tom post. I never use bass drum mounts - not against, I just started off with a kit with a crappy mounting system, so I got into the habit of using a snare stand.

The bass drum hoops come standard from Yamaha like that. The orange swirl kit has solid orange hoops, the blue swirl has solid blue hoops.

I heard Bill Stewart on one of these a few months ago. He was on tour w/ Scofield & my brother was band gear on this tour. I gave my brother a hand tearing down the gear and drooling over his Zildian prototypes, then got to hang out with the guys!

Anyway, what I wanted to say was that the Club Customs sounded really good!

If only if I had the money or could do a partial trade in these babies would be mine. $1,350 is over half what you would pay for these. And I love the swirl. A nod to Ringo but even cooler....
