Hi and welcome. You should probably re-post this in the non USA section to get more input, but to answer your questions - yes, they are collectable and considered pretty good quality. They are made of better materials than most Japanese kits of the period and can sound great. They come in some very cool finishes too.

Obviously condition and originality will play a part in the kit's desirability.
