Yamaha identify Last viewed: 50 minutes ago

Hello drum community. I aquired a drum set and I'm at a bit of a lost with identifying this one. Let alone setting a rough value and the worth of restoration.

It has the Yamaha 70's badge. But I never seen that covering nor can find it anywhere. It's a 4 piece, meaning I don't have the original snare.

Hope these links work.(their safe it's photobucket)

I am going to guess from the Hardware and wrap/covering early to mid 70's,it looks like the inside of the shell from your pic has been stained, like the recording custom series.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

TY for the welcome :D

The covering is what really gets me lost on it. I checked out the wiki and everywhere on the 70's Yamaha wraps, none are coming up like this one. Good observation on the stain interior. That is a good puzzle as well.

Hmm, I hope someone has seen one like this before or know a bit more. I'll keep waiting before touching the set.

Clean them and play the snot outta of 'em...They may well be 90's drums, not 70's because of the hardware. The shells "appear" to be solid, and may be maple. So if you really want better info, show us the real deal, not half-a$$ed pix...flower

Well, today I got a response from Yamaha themselves.

Appearently they are a YD-685 kit in Mirror Gold Finish 1973.

Mmhmm, so halfa$$ pix they may have been, but at least I got the answer I needed from the pros themselves

So if anyone out there like myself, with no knowledge what so ever, looking for some help on their Yamaha, go directly to the source. They know their stuff!

Have a great day all!

Ahh..'scuse me dude, but where do you think they (the so-called pros) get their info from....?

Maybe from....the VDF community???

We know more about the old products than any of the factory dweebs, and they email us for info ALL THE TIME!
