I have a 1969 mod orange set just like that one, bought a jazzfest re-wrapped in original mod orange some years ago, found a matching 1970 canister throne and a year ago lucked on to a matching 1968 14x14. I'm a very happy camper!

Very cool! Show us the Mod Orange Jazz Fest!

Maybe the seller is play`n some kinda Cheap Trick on buyers.

i think he's trying to establish a market for "celebrity drumsets"... and has been at it for a while

his prices used to start at $50,000, then $30,000... not sure if he ever got any actual takers, but it only takes one

besides, what's a "piece of Music History" actually worth?

not $30,000, from the looks of it

As a drumkit, he's nuts. Those aren't Ludwig spur holes under there, and while it could be bare spots from solvent or something, there looks to be some shenanigans inside the floor tom.

As a piece of rock memorabilia, I don't know. I don't think extra holes would be on anyone's mind if Ringo's kit was on the auction block. If it was Densmore's Mod Orange, I'd say sure. It's kind of "his" color, and people associate it with him. But I don't know enough about Bun and what he played to know if he had a kit that was strongly "his" like that. Celebrity ownership doesn't automatically equal value if they didn't really play it or love it, or at least get a lot of pictures taken with it. I mean, Bun has probably owned 3/4 of the vintage Ludwigs in the world at some point.

Yeah trying to force the market. Not even bang tidy either. Looks a bit of an old goat with extra holes than an impressive shining marquee to be worth quite that haul.

For the record: I owned the snare drum and traded it to Donn about 10 years ago. I never owned the toms or bass drum. I think I've owned only about 2/3 of all the Ludwig sets out there!

I will have to dig up a pic. Honestly it looks like a real jazzfest and nobody from a distance would know. It has two seems so that is a dead giveaway. Also the badge is on securely but from the inside it easy to tell it was messed with. The person who made it said the pieces came from a mod orange came from a swiss cheesed bass drum with no chance of fixing. It looks prett good and while it's a fake(sorry Bun), I was able to afford it and I will probably never sell it.

If for some reason I do ever sell it, I will most likey write on the inside in black sharpie that it is fake so there is absolutely no chance of anyone guessing(all though a real collector should know right away). I would have already done that but I am just too lazy to undo a head and the drum sounds fantastic now so I don't want to mess with it. Lol

Here is the mod orange rewrap snare. It's not perfect but it looks decent and it sounds great!

2/3 then. That is good to know. We stand corrected.
