Yep, More Rogers Identification Please, I have Pictures! Last viewed: 7 hours ago

Hello all,

I have acquired a Rogers drum kit from a relative here in the U.K.

It has been sitting in a shed for some time and is a bit worse for wear.

The serial numbers on it are:

Bass Drum - B31438 - 6053229/72

Floor Tom - B23818 - 6053229/72

Tom - B38594 - 6053229/72

Tom - B14166 - 6053229/72

The Snare says Dynasonic Custom Made, but I cannot see any numbers on it.

I attach some photos for your reference.

Any ideas what I have?

Thanks for your help.

Gareth.

Not a Rogers expert at all but I can say that you need to tell us the size of each drum, depth x diameter please. I can tell you that you have a really good quality set of drums. The Rogers expert will be in shortly, he can tell you a lot based on that serial number.

And by the way, Welcome!

Here, yo can read this for now.

Very early Dynasonic. If the lugs remain solid, that's a real treasure. The lugs are drawn brass and tend to be fragile, so take care in that regard. Many folks seemed to have induced too high a level of tension on them over the years and cracked them badly. The tabs that provide the point of anchorage for the screws are also rather weak. New lugs are available from JP2 Creations in Texas if it comes to that, but they are rather expensive.

The balance of the set is quite common in the US and does not carry a high value as a result. As the tag indicates, production began around 1972 and ran for a couple of years in that mode. I believe it was Ploughman that indicated the shells had changed in that era to 3-ply, whereas for quite some time they had been 5-ply. Still good sounding instruments in any case.

That looks right. I was wondering if that might not be an English version. Especially nice score at that price if it is.

The Dyna-Sonic is English. Early 60s.

Very nice. The USA bass and toms are from the end of the 9/72 Series, probably 1975 just before the Big R era. One thing to note: you're missing the backing plate and nut for the interior of the double tom mount on that bass...

These parts are available occasionally on eBay, but you could probably use parts from your local hardware store. I wouldn't be too rough on the mounted toms until you get the mount properly secured.

The toms and bass are still swivo era,and while not as valuable as the cleveland/dayton era drums are still great drums, and probably a little more valuable on your side of the pond,it seems that U.S. made drums get pretty good money.

Clean them up and play them, they usually come back nicely.

Welcome to the forum.
