Hi,

I wondered if anybody would like to share his/her best NOS find. :-)

I would like to start with this very rare Paiste 404 Black Label 20" Crash

Years ago before I was a collector I walked in a building to bid a restoration in the early nineties and there was a music store in basement old guy had nos snares andvcymbals

I just looked at them and his prices were 2500 for the snares I think one was a ringo snare

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

All my NOS finds were Slingerland hardware. I was in a training class back in a small suburb of Boston in the 90's. I found a small music store in a rural area and decided to check it out. Sitting in lower cabinet were two Slingerland boxes that caught my eye. They were unsold inventory of a #1382 Rocket snare drum stand and the very popular #804 flush-base hi hat stand. They were cool, but I didn't purchase them. Months later, and back home in southern California, I called the store and asked about these and even told them where I had seen them. Sure enough, they were still there! I did a deal over the phone and paid by credit card. The store owner shipped them to me!

The last piece was a NOS Slingerland Tempo King bass drum pedal, complete with the original box, that I found while on business in Las Vegas in the late 90's. That music store is no longer there! Since I drove there, I purchased it on the spot and took it home!

I've been lucky buying some old gear but never NOS. Since I don't have a story myself, I'll proxy this one:

Off the top of my head, mine would be a NOS Ludwig Speedmaster bass pedal.

Hi Mike!

Now, that's cool! You also reminded me that I did purchase a NOS Ludwig beater, still wrapped up. I'm not home right now, but will upload the picture when I return home later today. Always nice to have my memory jogged! LoLoLoLo

I found a NOS Slingerland Tempo King at Steve Weiss Music (thanks Dan!) a few years ago and also a Ludwig Ghost from the estate of Ed Shaughnessy at Professional Drum Shop in Hollywood (thanks Stan!). I had to work the Ghost footboard by hand for about three minutes before the springs "relaxed". These are part of a bass drum pedal collection, it's a long story but it keeps me off the street...

Here's the NOS Ludwig 1286 beater I had years ago. I never used it and eventually sold it. It still had the original price tag! The shaft also had the milled flat spot.
