In The Ludwig Book there is a quote from W F Ludwig II which states that when Audio was provided for movies, 18,000 drummers lost their jobs in less than two years.

Here's an updated picture of the train imitation that I restored. It came without the bell plate and the wire holder. I made the holder from stock metal from ace hardware. Carefully bent to shape and added patina and rust.

The bell plate I ordered new from a steel company...pretty inexpensive and I requested the same dimensions that the 1928 Ludwig catalog describes. I removed the zinc protective coating with toilet bowl cleaner (acid), and the proceeded to beat it up a little. I then carefully rubbed on small amount of muriatic acid to make the patina/oxidization.

The hammer is from eBay.

Now, sometime I forget the bell plate portion isn't original!

I had no idea about these sound effects used on silent films.

I’ve heard about pianists or small orchestra’s but this,...?

Brilliant, absolutely brilliant !
