YREKA! Moment... Last viewed: 1 day ago

Have a black nitron wrapped 14x14 RB Gretsch with the typical head fit problem. I've been using an Aquarian American Vintage medium to solve that problem but have not been happy with the sound, too thick, too round and not enough stick attack. In my head, Remo Ambassadors and Gretsch drums are a match made in Jazz Heaven. Decided to try the thin version of the same head and YREKA!, just what I was hoping to hear. Much more open and resonant with good stick attack. Not thin sounding at all, like many 7mil heads. I left the medium head on the resonant side and all seems to be working well. I like the sound so much I put a thin on the 12", which doesn't have a head fit problem, and the toms sing like never before!

That's interesting as I have sound issues too, seem like nothing works as good as old new heads.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
