I have first gen 60's NBs. As with Olddrumgeek, my Top Hat has a crack, but it's only a few millimeters at the edge and doesn't buzz. They're great Hi Hats and always in my cymbal bag. I have owned the newer type, let's say New New Beats which I found a little higher pitched. Overall the Old New Beats are darker and what I prefer about the 60's ones is that "chick" sound you get from them when keeping time with the foot pedal. It's a very pronounced "chick" due to maybe a heavier bottom hat of around 1100 grams. The top is around 770 grams. They're great Hi Hats. I hope you get a chance to try out a few pairs, old and new.
Zildjian 14" new beats... Last viewed: 4 hours ago
thanks for the added comments guys. I've been looking at ebay n gc site to get an idea on prices. cheapest set i found so far are used n around 160. including shipping. im not sure which size i want yet, 14s or 15s. i'd like a set of 70s, how do i tell them from newer ones?
John, you'll have to give me a review when you try yours out.

The New Beats are great all around hats. I sold my Quick Beats and Sabian AAX hats, and kept only the newer 14" New Beats. Didn't feel I needed anything else.
hey guys, just thought id tell ya...i got a set of new beats headed my way. thank you Jerry.
ill give my review once they get here and i give em a try. woohoo cant wait!

Thanks for the kind words Robyn. Just remember, if you don't like them you get your money back! Jerry.

Nice Robyn. I hope they are the perfect set for you. What size did you end up going with? Either way Zild A NB's are great cymbals.
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Try them upside down too :)
Don't forget the heavier one goes on the bottom.;)
I`ve used 14" and 15" new beats for years and they are older ones.I like the 14`s for rock and the 15`s are for general use as they fit into most styles of music very well.I`m sure you can`t go wrong with either size.Enjoy when you get yours...
