To me, it's kinda a relief to find a shell that's got an unoriginal finish on it.
This opens up the possibilities to just continue in that vein with repro lugs and new tension rods and other compatible repro hardware if needed.
It appears the strainer still has the complete telescoping lever on it, something you might see remaining half the time. Many times the top section of it is gone missing.
You know the finish will now never be original, so you can go with something different if you like, or leave as-is.
For less than $40 you can get 8 repro lugs and tension rods from drumfactorydirect.com and have an attractive, great sounding snare drum.
Keep in mind though, your mounting screws from the original lugs will not work with the repro lugs.
You must either order them with the lugs (.31 each) or try to find them at a hardware store.
I think they are metric, I'm not sure.
I am going looking myself today to see if I can find some that fit.
So really, if this is a solid shell, you did well in my opinion if:
The clamshell strainer is in decent shape and working (that's a $100 item).
The badge is present and correct.
True, this could be an insufferable money pit if you try to stay all era-correct with genuine Slingerland parts.
But how original can the end product be with an unoriginal finish anyhow?
If you like, I can get back to you with the results of my mounting screw hunt.

ps....... Here's one with repro lugs, a different model, but she looks decent and plays quite nicely.
I have the originals stashed away, the second pic shows the originals.
