1940's GRETSCH BROADKASTER FOUND LAST WEEK... Last viewed: 15 hours ago

Loading...

Found these last week. Fair condition. Lots of scratches on the lacquered finish. One tom is missing one hoop. Slingerland Radio king holder on one of the toms.(one small extra hole in there). The bass drum has 6 screws and two double holes on what it looks like there was a rack consolette in there.

Mahogany interiors? Very reddish...Not as brownish as the Ludwigs or Slingerlands from the era. 14x25 Bass drum!!!...Looking for a 25" Calfskin head and a 14" hoop like these! Comments and information are greatly appreciated.

Paid $500,00 for them. They're not for sale.

Oh VDB!

That kit is just too cool! Great color combo. I won't bee to hard to fabricate a hoop for the larger tom, I would think. I'm just wondering, though. The bass appears a little egg shaped in the photos. Are you sure it isn't a 24 or 26 and you just took a measurement in one diameter?

I've had rocket lug bass drums that were 23". But the lugs on that bass drum look like Carlton's, not Gretsch, unless they're some weird single tension lug?

WOW ! Very nice. I have a tom mount exactly like the one on the smaller tom that came off a 1936 Slingerland Tom I had if you need one for the other tom.

Thanks guys. The bass drum it is a 25", Not out of round , I guess the camera is playing tricks...It is a Gretsch Single tension bass drum. All the shell look the same on the inside. Matching set. Now, anybody has any clue about the mounting system for these toms? Whats all those screws on the bass drum are intended for? A long rack consolette, Maybe?

Any sugestions for restoring the finish? How about the nickel hardware? Question and more questions...

Warning ... Avoid member statuscymbal here, vintage_collector on DFO , and americanpatriot10 on eBay. Email me for his name. All are the same shady guy who has burned me and a list of other members on both boards . He is also selling on Facebook too ..

Nice photography! The kit is magic.

+1 here on "just as it is". Very tempting to just clean and play...
