I think the tom mount clipped on to the bass drum hoop. ? I am no expert on these so hopefully someone can weigh in who knows for sure.

To be more precise I didn't actually paid $500.00 for these. I traded the set for a 4 piece Ludwig white Vistalite I had that cost me that much. Hey Vibes: Is this set missing its Floor tom or this is a factory configuration too? I saw that set on the picture you shared and Im wondering if it should have a Floor. If the toms are supposed to be attached to the toms what are the screws on top of the bass drum for? Ill post pics of those later. Calling all Gretsch experts!

1 was wondering about that myself. If the floor was there. Does your large tom have leg mounts or holes for leg mounts? Does it have holes for another mount like on the smaller tom?

Vinnie,

I'm no Gretsch expert, but I noticed that both your toms have the same "missing mount" screws as the bass (see pics). I don't know which mounts are correct for this period, but it appears that there were other tom mounts installed at some time in this set's life.

So it's not for sale, huh? Everything's for sale for the right price. If this were a 1946 Broadkaster in WMP (my first set at age 13), I'd make you an offer you couldn't refuse. :)

Cool drum set! Tough decision on weather or not to re-finish. They could look great but you loose the mojo. Good luck with them!

Thank you!

When it comes to nickel lugs, I use a buffing wheel on a bench grinder motor with different ***elers rouge. It's a filthy, dusty, and sometimes tedious process. And if your not careful, it can shoot a small part across a shop. But the results are nothing short of amazing. They can shine like a mirror as long as the plating is still good.
