Hmmmm...It appears that the wing screw was lost at some point and holes were drilled through the spur and bracket, and the coat hanger was used to hold the spur in place. Here is a pic of mine on my '58.

Ed, good looking players kit you got here. IMO, which ain't too highly looked upon round these here parts...electricit (kidding) Anywho, I am generally in the keep 'em together camp. The 14" floor tom, Kent or not will be easily sold as they (Kent 14" floor toms) are as rare as a drum can be. Kent made mostly 16" floor toms. It is likely to be a rewrap as well. Since they are re-wrapped, the value is diminished somewhat.
The reason bass drums and 18" diameter and larger drums have multiple pieces of wrap is because the wrap is manufactured 24"x54", meaning you can't get a single to cover it.
As for restoring this kit, I would leave it to the next owner to do whatever they want as paying to have someone do it for you be very expensive and you'd not get any money back for it. I do a lot of restoration/recreation work and will tell you I would have to charge 200, if not more for my labor alone, for a full on rewrap and polishing.
Well, good luck on the sale and I hope they go to a good home!

Hi Ed. Hopefully on the BD spur assy the wingnut hole is not stripped out. If so you can maybe just buy a new/used wingnut. You still have the hole drilled but unless your looking for it...... Or you can find new brackets on ebay or the forum here. Mine were stripped and tapped for a larger dia. I bought some all thread and wingnuts and made my own. Not ideal but my kit is just a nice players kit. So it works for me. I do plan to use threadserts to repair them so they use the correct wingnuts again. The mounts are left and right side specific so if you shop keep that in mind.
Jonnistix is right on it does get VERY expensive to find parts and restore/refurbish these old drums. But if you can do some of the work yourself (basic clean and polish) it's not bad but can be a addictive hobby. ;)
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

I did clean up the Kent floor tom. It looks lovely. Everything cleaned up well with just chrome cleaner and liquid gold.
However, I need one rubber foot, a badge, and one lug. The one lug is no doubt a replacement. I keep looking for something to pop up on ebay or here.

Agree, I'm finding that to be the case. I love old stuff.. I find myself cleaning up and restoring all kinds of history. I mostly do light restoring as I prefer the patina look.
I have essentially the same set. Mine came in original condition; 1961, 12x20" BD with tom or snare stye tension rods, 8 x 12 with hoop mounted tom holder.
The 14" floor tom was added a few months later in 1961. The 13" 6 lug snare was traded for a chrome Rogers powertone.
This is my favorite sounding set...still has the original calf heads; kept the calf on the reso side and replaced the tom batters with Remo Renaissance heads.
Mount the tom off a RIMS type mount.
Also found a couple '61 matching 14" snares. In 1961 the badges were Niles but had no serial #.
Very cool! So would it be safe to assume I could use parts through 61?
No cymbal mounts?
You could use parts from the late '50s into the '60s. If you replace the spur mounts, you have to get the earlier version telescope spurs as the later ones will fit the hole pattern on your bass, but need thicker spurs.
My set has the straight, center cymbal mount. I've seen cymbal mounts all over the place on the 12 x 20 BDs from the 2N set.
What other parts are you looking to replace? It's not always worth it to spend a lot of $ on parts if you're not going to end up keeping the set...
This might be the lug you are looking for the Kent floor tom.
