just remembered something. there are two different sizes/lengths on the p87strainers. the wfl model and the ludwig model are different. the main thing is to make sure that strainer is mounted to where your wires are flat and at the correct angle if that makes sense.

the drum is looking good!

Thanks Mike

Hmmm well I'd better try get some tech spec on mount position then. So my throw off has the number 1050 stamped inside it... mean anything?

Also will i be able to get Pure Sound wires to work with this?

Thanks

Thanks Mike,

This is great info.

I kinda knew the Pure Sounds would be a little salty as I've replaced some other snares I have with them. They sound great tho.

Unfortunately the one I took off the drum are incorrect aftermarket jobs and were fitted with the cheap throw off that came with it - I'd be happy to let you have them otherwise...

If you have any extra tension rods or even a single washer (I'm missing one) feel free to let me know !!!

Send me a pic of yours too - I'd be interested to compare.

Thanks a ton for your help, just got to get the drilling position right now and a screw for the strainer...

Cheers Mate

the overall length on the one on ebay and the one on amazon is different. wonder whats up with that?

i just went and measured on my 5.5x14. that 15 3/4 length mentioned on amazon is too wide. they say its for a 14" drum. the only 14" drum that would take one that wide might be a super sensitive maybe. but they have different ends on them.

maybe these though?.....

Yea I spotted that too and have been wading thru some pages to check I'm ordering the right one...

Part no's starting PL .....1416 with several extra letters seem to abound...

I looked at the 14 5/8th" one you sent tho and it seems that may work best...

I think the extended one may be for a bridge type butt?

Nice looking Luddy's Mate !
