Was fortunate to see Barrett Deems many times as he often came through Sacramento for the jazz festival. One of my all-time favorite drummers and a real memorable character too. I'd like to think he was the inspiration for "Animal" on Sesame Street, although that's probably not true. There's an album in which you can hear one of the band members refer to him as "Animal".

I've never been a huge fan of sizzle cymbals. As far as I'm concerned they are one-trick-pony's and have limited application. If they were both mine, the 20" A would be the keeper. It's not only a great sounding cymbal, it's the more versatile of the two.Best of luck with the sale. That's a nice one.John
I like sizzles...riding them...and they esp sound cool as the last note in a song.....as in Can't Find My Way Home by Blind Faith.....
Full album title? I'm gonna check it out

Blair - they have their uses, I just don't like losing the stick when you play them. Because of the sizzles they are 'mostly' straight up wash. I like to hear the sticking pattern on a ride. When it's all wash coming out the other end, why bother with any fancy sticking? Strictly a personal thing. The only time I think I'd consider using one would be with a jazz combo. That's where sizzles can be used with good effect. I don't play with a jazz group, so sizzles are out for me. Musically, in my own head, I always kind of associate using sizzle cymbals with ballads, slow stuff.

Ah... My sizzles are quite dry though. I only get ones where i can hear the stick clearly.

You've been lucky to find them! I grant that the number of rivets will determine how strong the wash is, I just (personally) haven't run into one that wasn't mostly wash when you play it.
I'd still keep that killer A. Not very many as nice as that one around. Caught my ear immediately.
