Is this the drum that was for sale in Brooklyn, NY via Ebay? Very cool.

No, not at all. I think that one looked better...ha ha. I think I know the one you mean...I have seen that one too. I believe it had stamped 3804? The hardware was more shiney and came with a huge bass drum, pick up only.
That is a really cool drum. It might have a few issues but not anything serious. Congratulations!
Yes congrats!! Love that drum. Such a cool snare with the wood hoops. Minor fixes and she'll be swingin like new again!
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Beautiful drum! I wouldn't smear those notches full of plastic wood. You or another forum member could cut two pieces of wood to fit nicely. Just take some time.

Nice old drum! 1939 was pretty much the end of the line for Ludwig's solid maple shell construction. By 1940, they went to three ply shells. Unfortunately, World War Two put an end to the Super snare mechanism. In the first post war Ludwig catalog (1948), there are no Super-Ludwig snare drums offered.
Thanks much gentlemen. I will attempt the wood piece replacement.
I still need to find some replacement snare wires for it.
I have an old Ludwigold badged bass drum too I'll be posting in the near future for ideas also.

Thank you, that's great info. All knowledge appreciated!

Actually, I think yours is in better shape. The one on ebay had some strange looking stains in the wrap (blood?) and maybe some issues with the super sensitive mechanism.
