MME!
A "Downbeat" kit usually refers to a 14x20, 8x12 and 14x14 drums. Early DB kits had a matching Downbeat 4x14 snare drum, then changed to 5x14 Supraphonic, so either snare drum would qualify with the DB kit.
A few other kit names that denote specific sizes are:
Super Classic: 14x22, 9x13, 16x16
Hollywood: 14x22, 8x12, 9x13, 16x16 (earlier Hollywood kits had two 8x12 toms)
Plenty other examples of kit names vs drum size, but this should help you.

In case anyone is interested, I just created a brand new 'set' on Flickr entitled: "1967 Ludwig Drum Catalog". It has scans of each page plus the covers.

I think it's interesting that the Super Classic set comes with a Supra($92), but they offer to send it with a matching Jazz Fest($75) for the same total price...........marko
That's a real beauty of a set. I would definately keep it as original as possible too. I think personally the rareset part is that fact that it was your fathers set. I don't have any idea what your relationship with him is like but no amount of money can replace that part IMO. Good luck with them.
Totally agree with WFLkurt(and others).NEVER sell that kit!Ideally it should remain in your family forever!BUT if you are going to sell it I would jump on it in a second!Chuckle, chuckle!KEEP IT!:)
Example of Rogers,Slingerland,Gretsch,Premier and Ajax sets.
Various '60's and '70's US,English and Japanese snare drums.
HELP,NEED MORE SPACE!
I had basically the same kit and added a 13 & 16 many years ago. you should have no problem getting them in the same finish. There are plenty of them out their ..just be patient and one will come.
1979 gretsch black nitron 20-12-13-16
1972 Rogers blue onyx 20-12-13-16
2012 gretsch renown 57 18-12-14
1980's gretsch Ice blue 22-12-13-16
1980's gretsch Ice blue 18-10-14
1972 slingerland silver sparkle 22-12-13-14-16
Thinking of adding this to the collection. Is it a super sensitive? It's my singer's and I'm thinking I can never have too many snares to play with the kit!
