'65 Ludwig Supraphonic Last viewed: 9 hours ago

Just when you think you have a grip on what you are talking about...WHAM....another one pops up, and disregards you as "you know everything". Smacked down into grade school so to speak...

The '65 Super Classic I purchased came with a "65 Supraphonic, but it was in horrible shape, as the chrome is flaking. The gentleman I acquired it from had disassembled it, and had all the components in a box. I laid them all out, making sure I had all the parts to complete. As I counted the imperial lugs, I only had 8....thus thinking that I had been shorted. I was wrong, as the shell was made for 8. Always thought the supra had 10, and never seen one with 8. Any knowledge out there...as I am sure there is!

Thanks everyone...still learning after all these years!

There are Acrolites out there with Imperial lugs. They might possibly have been 10 lug though I think.Vintagemore2000 has one I believe. Do a search here and see what comes up.

Cheers,BigE

I saw this at Goodwill awhile back. Might be what you have.

Can't enlarge the photo posted, but believe that it is an Acro in the photo. The snare I have is a supra, as most of the chrome is still intact. Still looking through the internet. Thanks for the info!

Pretty sure it is original, as the badge is unmolested, as well as the grommet. Chrome interior....reeks Supra. Any thoughts??

8 lugs would make it an Acro I presume. Probably one of Ludwigs anomalys.

If so, it would be a rare bird. Unless someone swapped out the Bowties at one point.

No explanation for that one! It's like an 8-lug Supra or a chromed Acrolite with Imperial lugs. Weird.

More pictures of the interior, please

I have a feeling it has been modified. Does this snare match the club date set you just got? (serial numbers match?)
