FYI There should be more Purdie Shuffle on this site , As a member of vdf i'm a huge fan of Purdie shuffle he's one cool cat.

Guys... go easy.Kook gives every appearance of being a young guy with strong beliefs about what he likes and doesn't like. I've been reading his posts when he starts a thread. Like all of us, he's learning. Kind of using us and the forum like a lab to fling some poop at the walls just to see what sticks. But it's a learning process and I think he's learning. Two weeks ago, Kook would have verbally gutted you if you even suggested that Hal Blaine ghosted for Dennis Wilson. Now, he's acknowledging Hal's contribution. The man is now showing that he learned something!Go easy. Room for everyone to learn and grow here. Bunch of old fahrts around here anyway, don't want to blow off any young bloods that show up. They're the next generation.John

Thank you bro. I want you to know that your kind words couldn't have come at a better time. I needed a little positive reinforcement right about now. Always good to know that your peers appreciate you being around. For me, the friends I've made and the acknowledgment from fellow musicians, is what it's all about.

Thanks for the good feeling when I really needed one! Good timing!!! flowers2

John!

Rene, drums2Xs is right on the money! You are a fantastic asset to this forum! You are a talented, very bight guy who shares freely of knowledge and expertise. To be quite honest, I believe that you are a caring individual who would not purposely hurt a soul...an all-round good person and loving family man. Rene wrote to me yesterday, in a kidding fashion, asking me to do a job as bodyguard for a forthcoming event. He was joking and my response was light-hearted as well BUT, I'm just across the lake, my friend. Let me know if I can ever "cover your back". You offered me that option several weeks ago before you knew who I am. I would be happy to reciprocate.

With great respect,

Brian

Just a drummer who loves all things about vintage drums! Nothing more, nothing less.

Thanks, you're all turning me red in the face from embarrassment over here. Back to the thread... I don't want to hi-jack Kook.

Interesting to read that Hal's favorite sessions were "ballads, like the Carpenter's 'We've Only Just Begun'"

reference... Great Rock Drummers of the Sixties, by Bob Cianci.

Not a Guru... just interested..

That is a sign of somone who plays for the song and not himself. I like it.

Another quote I really liked from Hal Blaine.. "I'm an accompanist, I've never been a soloist.. the key word for drummers is-- LISTEN"

I have always liked that accompanist approach to drumming ala golden-ager Dave Tough.. don't get me wrong Krupa and Rich AMAZING!! But for me accompanist just feels right.
