Hi folks.
I just joined today.
I used to be a woodwinds player and teacher a lifetime ago. I got into jamming on drums with a few friends and did that now and then for a few years. What fun that was! Sure wish I had just started on drums from the beginning - I'd have decent skills if I did. I suck pretty bad as a drummer, especially since I haven't even done the garage jam thing for over 6 years now. Holy crapola! I suck worse than I remember. It's embarrassing. But I've renewed an interest so I dug the set back out and going to give it a proper go this time, complete with lessons and actual practice. What a concept!
Anyway, my set is a '69 vintage (as per serial on badges and stamp inside the shells) Ludwig, in champagne sparkle. I lucked into it at a pawn shop for pretty dirt cheap about 15 years ago. I have been searching a bit and I'm not sure exactly what I have and I'd just kind of like to know. It's a 20-16-13-12. I need to replace the awful student snare, fix a few things & replace most/all the heads, but it's in pretty good shape under the dirt.
So what exactly do I have here?

Thinking an Acrolite snare might complement this set pretty well, especially me being a total hack/noob/rookie drummer. I'm certain a good snare is nice to have, but at my skill level I don't figure I'd benefit by going too overboard by investing in a supraphonic or the like. I feel extremely fortunate to have this kit to learn on in the first place.
p.s. I am aware that the left tom is upside down. I can't remember why that ended up happening, and I'm sure there are other goofinesses to remedy. There are bottom/top heads swapped too for some reason. Must have seemed like an idea at the time to someone - I'm not sure I'm even the one who did any of it. Many others played this kit while it was at the jam location.
Also, the missing black on the BD rims is fortunately just paint and not gouged into the wood, so ought to be a pretty simple thing to refinish that and freshen up the looks.
