Actually, I believe that the gentlemen were probably referring to the 'depth' of the drum shell, rather than the diameter. Possibly a 20" floor tom originally - any extra lug holes visible? What about re-rings? No idea on value, sorry.

Pics added above . You can see where it was rolled into a smaller diameter . The extra shell was not cut off .It is inside and now two of the lugs are closer to each other . So I do think they were talking making a larger diameter drum into a smaller one . Not so much the depth . I gotta say the lugs on these drums are so beautiful . So much style !

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Those old Imperial lugs are really nice. I had 12 of the same bass drum lugs but sold them.

No, the diameters of large bass drums were routinely cut down as smaller diameter bass drums became more in style. It's amazing what they could do.

How the heck did they cut those down? Sure sounds like a lot of work..I know a guy not too far away that has a WMP Cloud Badge RK 20" BD...must have been cut down also.

Seems kind of crazy from the standpoint of today but you do see a lot of these old bass drums that had their diameter reduced when smaller drums came into vogue. My theory is that there were a lot more cabinetry or woodworking shops around that did that sort of work back then so it was much cheaper and convenient to take your old 26" bass in and have it cut down and made into a 20" than it was to buy a new bass drum.

Hard to believe that is still sounds good . But it does . I wish i had the room to build a small set around it . But one set and another in the works is all I can do right now . I would have though the WMP pearl would be quite a bit more yellow and discolored .But it looks pretty nice .
