Anyone know what species this is? Last viewed: 9 minutes ago

He was asking $140 at one time - he offered to sell it to me today for $75.

I think it's worth that just for the fun of gently taking it apart and cleaning it. I would be happy using it as a display in my workshop. And if someone comes along and wants it I would sell it......everyone's happy.

Drums of any kind are just cool hu.

Not me - no 'jacking up the market here' - I was only asking what this is. From my experience - as limited as it is - I found you can make pretty much any drum sound not too bad. And I do very much appreciate any and all comments on what the value would be for a drum like this but that is not why I'm interested in the drum. It could be worth $5 or $200....it means the same to me - because in the end I think it's cool and I like it.

I did go and buy the drum after work today - $75 - I am very happy just to check it out closely. It's worth the $75 to me just to take it apart, clean and inspect it. I'm not really interested in selling it. If nothing else, I will get it playable and use it with some of the other toms and snare orphans I have.

Some day someone will post a drum with the same hardware and the 'species' mystery will be solved.

I'll take some measurements maybe tonight but I seem to remember it having an odd-sized diameter.

The diameter is around 22" it's a bit oval haha.

Very cool lug parts and weighty too. One claw has been braised/repaired but all the others look good.

I'm removing some rust right now. One lug claw is missing. Someone 'jimmied' (second photo) a claw of some kind with a nail through it to hold the head down - not through the head ....through the t-rod.

The finish is 'Glass-like' very sparkley.

It has CALFHIDE heads! I'm wondering how old this drum is.....

Gary, Thats a great deal you got on the drum..I seem to recall seeing these types of lugs on drum of the name of Korri or Corri something like that.I think they were made in Germany sometime in the 40s-50's...Mikey

Got the hardware all cleaned. Man that drum shell is flimsy! It feels like an old rag....not quite but it squishes = moves around - in the hands with the least bit of pressure. I will do my best to retuck the heads...find some external (hoop mounted) bass drum spurs and see what it can do. I don't think I will use that 'catcher's mitt' tom holder - might keep it for decoration on the drum or it might do better without it = the less pressure/stress on the shell the better. The wrap is pretty nice though and this hardware is made very well........

Gary,

Really like the claws/rods/lugs!
