While I know this is an old thread, I thought I'd offer my two cents. John Riley has been using the Remo Vintage A heads on his Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute kit and they sound great. I currently have the Vintage A's on my own Maple Custom Absolute and 1960's Ludwig kits and they sound great on both as well (sonically-speaking, they're somewhere between a coated Ambassador and a coated Emperor).
