I agree FS heads look cool, but imo they sound like crap for the kind of music I play..especially the thicker ones.

Just in case it helps some people who don't yet know...

Some generations of Remo web site ago there was something on thickness which explained that due to the thickness of the coating

FD (Fiberskyn Dip designation)= Ambassador

FA (Fiberskyn Amb designation)= Emperor

for thickness. There are some other designations which are even thinner plus some specialty world drums. Their product naming people didn't do very well on this one considering Dip, Amb and Emp are the world standards for naming head thickness.

From OsakaBop

Wow - Zenstat, Atomic Morganic and Mountainhick- good to see you all here on VDF as well. It`s a nice placeThe Band

Thanks man. I've known about the VD family of sites for ages as a great reference source but didn't realize until recently that there was a fully developed forum. Great to see some familiar friends.

To hear that they are closer to a Coated Emperor makes me even more excited to try them. I prefer Coated Emperors on snare drums for the most part. Some drums speak clearer with a Coated Amb...and I actually really dig the Evans Genera heads as well...but for the most part...for durability and tone I prefer the Emperors.

I will report back with my feelings when I get this drum all set up. Will probably be a couple of weeks. I am going to have to fill a few holes and I am waiting on some wrap from Mikey to cover those extra holes. Then I will pick up the heads and a set of Puresound Clamshell Wires and let her rip as they say!

Thanks again for the discussion guys. This has been a huge help!
