once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
It has been talked about and thrown around as an idea in the past. There is a forum upgrade that would handle it. The main issue is the software upgrade and programming. I would venture in the $500 and up range.
It would have to go into the hands of an experienced person/team that would mirror the forum, trouble shoot the upgrade/install and work out the bugs prior to implementation.

Dave,
I would be willing to chip in for something like that. Is it possible to set up a donation fund specifically to pay for the upgrade? No doubt word will get out and it'll become an active and popular feature. If you set up a nominal fee structure for successful auctions, the $ can go to maintaining the entire system, VDF and the new auction component.
Count me in if you want to do it. Betcha there's a couple hundred guys on here who would ditch Fleabay immediately for an alternative place to sell here at VDF.
John
I would also add a few bucks to the pot if there is real intention on doing this.

Im in as well.
Count me.... In.
This idea really needs some deeper thought. Consider ... there is a nice snare on the auction block. The bidding gets hot. It is not strangers bidding against each other. It's guys on this forum who reach out to communicate and assist each other.
I'm sorry, but an auction style format would be horrible on this site. It would cause rifts and dissension between people and would end up spilling over into other areas of this forum. Bad bad idea.
We already buy and sell here. We communicate fairly well with each other within those areas. Why would we intentionally put this out there?
If the Sale threads don't meet the satisfaction of the group, how would an Auction area solve that? It is not logical.
Why don`t we set up a poll and have the membership vote to see if it were feasible to instate? It will give us an idea of how many members are interested...
I`m sure alot of the membership would help fund the project if it does get off the ground...
I will say this though, RogerSling may have a point!! We want to be careful that an auction style section won`t cause tension within the membership...Sometimes, the for sale section alone can do this!!
Cheers

I definitely agree with RogerSling on this. The auction, on the whole, seems like a good idea, but would eventually cause bad feelings between members. Let's keep VDF the way it is!
I'm in full agreement. this would be a train wreck in full view. there is this thing called ebay!! as mentioned already we have the For Sale section, we're a Drum Forum not a Wally world. please do not do this!
I agree! Adding an auction to this site could potentially destroy everything that is great about it...an auction site is a whole different concept.
