I feel rather ambigous about this ,as I clearly see both sides of the issue.I think we can all agree that once something is modified,no matter what that thing is...it's never the same again.

This forum could become something even greater,or collapse under its own weight.I for one ,like it here, and feel we should just maintain the status quo,but I will comply with the majority rule.Lets hope we make the correct, and dispassionate decision.

A little foresight would serve all of us well.:2Cents:

Do leecountrymusic and drumpartscounter get to participate?

I mean, this is America, after all....

And since it is America, I vote NO to an auction section!![ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ya8-ZKcOhiY"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ya8-ZKcOhiY[/ame]

I think an auction section will hurt the site. People ask questions, all the time, about drums on ebay and C/L. Some people may not be comfortable asking questions on the same site they are bidding on, or worse yet, they may be skeptic of the answers because of the potential for conflict of interest, whether it is actually present or implied by the one with a question. Either way, some questions won't be asked and some answers will not be accepted as truthful and either of those scenarios is mission failure for the VDF.

have a wonderful evening

I see this as both pro and con...Yep, a vote will decide. And, while the vote is going on, accept no new members.

SIGH. No... a vote won't decide. Please reference post #20: David will decide. He ultimately has the final say... period. That said though, it certainly looks like there are more NAYS then YAYS! :-)

Have to agree with the no crowd on this one although there is a awesome membership here having auctions will attract alot of seedy folks and if no one wants to pay what the owner wants it will lead to hard feelings , In the for sale site it is a quick choice you either want it or not and that keeps things civil IMO...

Ultimately it is Dave's decision. However, if given a vote in that decision, I would vote no. People who are and have been involved in the forum, and those that hopefully will join the forum and be involved.... have all contributed to make this the great place it is now. The great work Dave has done to make vintage information available, coupled with the contributions of knowledge by members have created an invaluable resource that draws people to the site. People who would join primarily to use this place as a selling venue would, I believe, make this place less than it is. I like that buying and selling is ok here. I also think those who join with only the intention of selling, get themselves weeded out rather quickly. I think that would become rather complicated with an auction style format, and weeding out undesirables would create unnecessary conflicts.

I'd like to think that it would be a good thing, but there's always someone ...

An auction site on here will undeniably eventually cause problems between members, and hard feelings. The "want to buy" and "sell" sections on here are fine.

I have bought drums and cymbals from members with no problem at what I deemed a fair price. I think most of the members are aware of the value of vintage Drums and hardware and if not a little research on this site will give you insight.
