Avocado Strata's and the twitching eye... Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Okay, I'm not dead. I was just taking a forced break from drums since I had so much other stuff going on. But then, I saw it: The holy grail of alligator skinned fruit color wrap lovers everywhere. A jazz sized (20, 12, 14) Ludwig Standard kit in the scarce, most gorgeous and illusive Avocado Strata wrap. They were on eBay, I drooled. I hyperventilated, I itched... I scratched.

I need another drum set like I needed a hole in my head, but... these are Avocado's. They had to come home. They needed protection from the vileness that could have been: Backline kit at a wandering circus pelted with monkey poo, heavy metal high school garage band covered with stickers.

Yes, I could save them from all these indignities.

I convinced my wife that I was indeed an angel of mercy (well, after she finished gagging at that statement) and I, with my green, gossamer wings made of 'bucks' could indeed enhance things by saving these from the assured fate (mentioned above) and bring peace and tranquillity to the planet. (hey, don't knock it, it worked!)

Yes, I am now, and forever blessed... I have saved something for eternity (well, mine anyway) and feel the warmth of vindication and the sweet kisses of adoration from the BOWMBO (Blonde One Who Must Be Obeyed, around here, known as Mrs. Fishwaltz.)

Even my dogs wag their tails while in my presence! (as long as I have treats).

Pictures and further details of the restoration / clean up will follow.

Anybody got a single tom post?

All that buildup and no pics?

Avocado is my favorite vegetable. Um, fruit. Which is it anyway?

Would it be OK to call an Avocado Strata wrapped kit that's been butchered, drilled, beat and abused actually more of a Guacamole Strata? ;)

Can't wait to see pictures.

HA! That's funny! Yeah, I guess... maybe day old, you know, brown!

All I've got are the auction pics, but I'll post 'em in a bit. The folks they're coming from (Illinois, not far from you, Jeff) have never shipped drums, so she's calling in the next few for instructions on how to pack 'em.

Here's the pertinent auction pics. There are a lot more, but these will suffice until I can get some 'real' detail stuff after they arrive.

They did have the snare as well, but I've got an extra A/S snare from the same year, so I passed. Hopefully someone on the forum got it.

Make sure they pack the SNOT out of them!
