The first downbeat was factory original and came with the jazzfest. The second set purchased in America prior to Ed Sullivan was factory original and later changed to swivo. The last two 22,13,16 OBP kits had swivos but it is not known weather or not the were ordered that way ot changed over later. It is too hard to tell from the book and knowone seems to know if either of those two sets have extra holes. Personally I never understood why Ringo used a swivo. I know that they can be more flexible for positioning but in every photo of Ringo, the 9x13 seems to be positioned wherever. It never seems to be in a planned spot which seems to defeat the purpose if you ask me.

I'm sure the position of the tom was the last thing on Ringo's mind when they were being chased by millions of fans anyway. I do love how he kept the same jazzfest for every set including the hollywood set. I can't even imagine what that single drum alone is worth!

I'm pretty sure that there were no Swivo mounts on any of the Downbeat kits. They were added with the Super Classic kits. Here's a great site for all you Ringo fanatics! Should clear up any confusion. www.ringosbeatlekits.com

Well, not sure of the point you're making here. The site you gave states that the downbeats were fited with swivos. I believe that it's common knowledge by now that kits 2, 3, and 4 were all fitted with swivos. Kit 1 was the question for historians.

yes the book says for the later drums too bad the bd and ft are not there any more from kit #1 btw Ringo walked in with Brian Epstein to drum city an got a trade allowance for the premier paid very little for the down beat , the other obp kits were gifts from ludwig he never paid for any of them his roadie mall took care of all the mounts skins and sticks , from kit # 2 on all had swivo mounts its in the book in the pics

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

The point I'm making is that I read no evidence of Swivo mounts on the Downbeat kits. I've read this site from top to bottom. If I missed something, please tell me where it's at. Can you provide a picture of any of Ringo's Downbeat kits with a Swivo tom mount? I've seen plenty of pictures of the Super Classic with a Swivo mount. Anyway, that's the point I'm making! I don't have the book in question to see if there's a Swivo mount on kit #2

No sweat. This pic was captured from the site you provided (a very popular and well traveled site by most all). Scroll down to the bottom and you will see this. Again, it is common knowledge that kits 2, 3, and 4 were all Swivo. Kit 1 was the historical debate.
