Sorry to hear of your dilemma...Definitely a "play" on words going on...

Paypal gift is only meant to be used to send money to family or close friends...Not to purchase drum sets...I admit that I use the gift option with sellers I`ve purchased from before and trust...When I`m dealing with a seller that I`m conducting business with for the first time and they mention "gift", I normally end the discussion there...I never use it on the first transaction...

I hope everything works out for you...

Cheers

I personally as a seller ask people to add 3% since Paypal takes that when money is sent. I even say straight out I prefer to add the nominal cost as opposed to using gift so the buyer is protected in case of anything. More often than not people are fine with that.I do hope things work themselves out for you.

I agree ! I collect a great number of things and am on many forums for said collections and asking gift payment is usually against the forum sales section rules on about 95% of the forums I am on . It was not always this way but due to bad transactions with no recourse the rules had to change to not allow gift payment requests .

Warning ... Avoid member statuscymbal here, vintage_collector on DFO , and americanpatriot10 on eBay. Email me for his name. All are the same shady guy who has burned me and a list of other members on both boards . He is also selling on Facebook too ..

Would you had still bought the kit for $1,600 if he had mentioned the issues? Or would you had asked him to come down a few hundred bucks? If so, maybe you can just get a partial refund, I mean, it's still a nice kit and if it's something you've been wanting, it may be worth keeping.

That's why I stop buying without seeing when at the owners place you can point out things that the owner mite not care or even acknowledge and those are your points for a deduct

Sorry this happen not everyone understands the passion we have for our drums....

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I agree that the drums are not as described (mint) but don't see any huge issues. They are still very nice drums. I would set the tone of finding a compromise and getting a partial refund, which the seller agreed to do even in the initial post.

thanks for the replies everyone - I wasn't really interested in a partial refund and the main reason why is he wasn't up front about the condition of the drums - had I known before hand I would have passed on the kit - I play nice gear, take care of my gear and if someone is selling nice gear they get my hard earned money - the other thing that really turned me off was his comments about the hoop - first there were no issues, then there was but he didn't mention it, then he didn't care about mentioning it because to HIM it didn't matter - anyway, I have paypal involved and hopefully this will be behind me soon

I've got a rope, let's string him up! There ain't no room in these parts for a no good, dirty lowdown, swindling varment!

Get a grip man! It's hoop rash where a foot pedal hooks up to, there's going to be hoop rash. Ask him for a $300 refund to more than compensate for the minor issues and enjoy the kit. Don't let your pride get in the way, it's still nice gear!

People make mistakes, he made one by not disclosing the rash and you made one by paying with the gift option. You can still win without stressing yourself out over such minor issues.
